Searching for articles is very critical sometimes using Google, yahoo, etc. I used to have a free access to more than 50 databases via my University account but now as I finished school I lost the free access. I need to have such flexible and free access to articles, specialized in ecology and environmental studies. Can anyone suggest a site I can use to access articular for free? I know some websites offer such access but only for universities or academic institution, in this case I can register for my institution.
I am afraid no such data base exist. The best way is google scholar. Then you can ask authors, friends an here for the papers that are not accessible from scholar :(( Good luck
This is a widespread issue for conservation practitioners. There's no such comprehensive database, as pointed out Google Scholar is the only one for searching. There's a list of open access journals here: http://asianelephantresource.webs.com/research-publications
This probably will not solve the problem, but I recommend to search interesting articles on Google Scholar or paid databases and after write directly to the author and ask for full paper. I have done it many times - in my case all authors responded. However sometimes it takes few days.
