I hypothesize that there is a direct relationship between the angle of eyeball rotation and illusory sensations of the ghost body, what other researchers have called a force field. This is essentially a projection of body parts into peripersonal space, and sometimes even further. I'm aware of all the research on the rubber hand ilusion/inducing out of body experiences; I'm specifically looking for info about how eye rotations and movements relate to expanded and distorted bodily perception.
Yes! It would help if I knew how to spell, haha! This does look like exactly what I'm looking for, but as always, my question is, how can I apply it to my situation (a blind person who lacks the ability to use her other senses to create pictures of objects in the world?) Focusing on the relationship between my eyes and body, and amplifying my perception of it with marijuana, seems to be the only way I've found to gain some ability to imagine objects and to think of the world in terms of 3d planes, and now you've confirmed what I suspected--that this is some sort of compensatory mechanism, that, when used correctly, can trick the brain into thinking that it is seeing. But the question is, how to heighten it nonpharmacologically, and the bigger question is, how to explain to researchers what I'm interested in doing because everyone always comes back to tactile/auditory forms of sensory substitution.
Okay, now my question is: Is there any possibility that someone can be consciously aware of gain fields (i.e. subjectively experience a tugging sensation between the eye and hand)?
