I have a biotinylated monoclonal primary antibody that I wish to use to probe liver sections.  I have a streptavidin-HRP that I can use as a "secondary" and a DAB substrate to visualize.  Will this strategy work and provide sufficient selectivity and signal?  Can I use an ABC-HRP kit in combination with my secondary to enhance signal further?  I will block endogenous avidin and biotin prior to incubating with my antibodies.

From what I gather, most people use a secondary antibody conjugated to biotin and then use the ABC-HRP kit to visualize, in my strategy I'm doing it a bit backwards and have the biotin-avidin linkage between my primary antibody and secondary.  Thoughts?
