IDS Placement options for IoVs/In Vehicle Networks?

I was looking for some recent work or guidance regarding placement options for Anomaly based Intrusion Detection System(IDS) for In Vehicles Networks(IVNs) for both types of Vehicles: Autonomous vehicles as well as connected vehicles. The suitably placed IDS should be able to detect attacks generated from/through CAN bus and ECUs and also generated from external networks through Wireless interfaces.
