To my experience Rohacell is a very good stuff with respect to weight, stiffness, thermal isolation and thermal range where it is stable.
Styro-foam hasn't got that stiffness.
But please look alternatively at PU based industrial foams such as
PUR RG30 to RG220 and PUREN 145
or 'google' for 'ZOTEK foams'.
I do not present you a link because I end up at internet pages with german language, sorry.
I have had an experimental look at them with respect to x-ray properites but not on thermomechanical ones. At a first glance hey have got stiffness comparable Rohacell; but please have a look at the data sheets for real quatitatative numbers.
