I am doing research work in robotics field which I have recently started. If you know any free to use robotic arm simulation software which could help me simulate and design an environment for pick and place application. Also I want to use pixy cam which helps in object detection. Software should include using pixy cam 2, universal robotic arm UR5 and their integration. Thanks
The widest software is Gazebo which can simulate any robotic design. This provides a free hand to choose environmental objects and a lot more. Try to run on Linux along with ROS (Robot Operating System), this will help to get real-time simulation. Moreover, you can use program your robot with c++/python and use different algorithms (available as a package).
Following Zain Ul Abideen gazebo is a good bet, you have a package which simulates universal robots: http://wiki.ros.org/ur_gazebo
Unfortunately, I am afraid that you will not find a oiece of software which is simulating the pixyCMU cam ... it is too "confidential" I would say. Moreover if you target picking applications, better to use a depth cam such as the Intel Realsense D435 for instance and you will find ROS Gazebo package for it.
