In the laboratory where I work we use an ultrasonic bath to dissolve reagents that do not dissolve easily.

Try dissolving it in a small amount of hot water (5% of the total volume?), then add ethanol to adjust to the preferred volume.

AlCl3 solubility is ~20% in ethanol and solubility will increase with addition of water. check once CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TRANSACTIONS VOL. 59, 2017.

I have successfully dissolved AlCl3 in 100 mL deionised water. For the flavonoids quantification I have prepared a 10% AlCl3 solution (w/v) which worked well. Please let me know if you need the full protocol.

AlCl3 is soluble in hydrogen chloride, ethanol, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride where as partially soluble in water .

Does Coal plus hydrochloric acid plus Aluminum produce ethanol and AlCl3
