Yesterday I came to my instrument ABSciex Triple Quad 5500 coupled to Agilent HPLC 1290 to initialize the profile, but it kept giving me an error message that said: "Failure to initialize binary pump, autosampler and TCC". I had turned the HPLC off and on again with the PC and loaded the program again but it still wont respond. The maintenance company will take quite a long time to come and I need to inject my samples. Can any one help me?
I have had checked the communication but every cable is fitted in it's place and well fitted
There may be software problem. Check wether data collection drive have space or not to store the data. ? Because if space is not available, this problem may occur.
do you have a standalone control panel to replace your computer and test if it work. You just need to connect it as the same place that the computer connection.
HP systems from Agilent usually have it.
You may check if the connection problem come from the computer of the HPLC.
anyway, where your cable is connected ? on the pump, the detector ? did you try to change it ?
Mr. Mohammad, if the suggestions given above are not helping you, then one of the option is to contact the maintenance officials through Internet/ telephonic conversation & see your trouble shooting manual book both on-line/off-line too . Hope this will help.

Kubica, I am using Analyst 1.5.2, I have the CD for 1.6 but I did not installed it yet.Also I had not installed any programs since I have had recieved my LCMSMS one year ago.

We had a similar problem on our 1290UPLC/5500QTrap - we switched offf the computer for an hour (we were told to do this at least once per week) all 1290 modules AND pressed the "Reset" button of the QTrap. I´m not sure whether the 5500 QqQ has that button as well (onthe QTrap its located beside the "Vent" button), but a complete system reset (incl. mass spec) might help also in your case.
1290 is high pressure pump and if u are using small bore column and your Triple quad has a 6 or 10 port valve (divertor valve) which is for low pressure, then it will give this error.
Finally I found a solution for it by disconnecting the serial cable and connecting the HPLC through Ethernet cable and it is working very fine now.
I think there maybe a problem with the serial port.
Unfortunately it is built-in the motherboard so I can not remove it and change it with a new one.
