I'm taking a survey to identify potential uses of cloud computing in the biological and biomedical sciences. How would or do you use it? For what tasks/methods/questions? What would you like to be able to use cloud computing for?
Generaly, when we have problems with other computing paradigms and we think that the solution is in cloud comlputing then we use cloud computing. this paradigm has both technical benefits (computing, storage, networking,...) and economic benefits (sla contract, client, provider,..).
In your case i think you should first detect the issuses and the targets of you problem so that i can help you.
There are increasing use of Big Data approaches in biological sciences (see link below). Since not every biologist will have, say a hadoop cluster at their disposal, they might use cloud big data services like Amazon Elastic Map Reduce.
