I am not sure about the exact focus of your question, but for the record, for me it has always been much easier to get money for collaborative research with experimental groups than any purely bioinformatic activities, such as algorithmic work or studying possibilities for new types of analyses, etc. Which also meant some of my best ideas remained unfunded and underdeveloped. This may also depend on the specific funding agency.

Hi, I agree with Matej that you need to show collaboration between different research groups. But, It also depends on each specific funding you ask for. Each has its demands. Just make sure that you address all the issues they ask for, even they seem to be not very important for you and what they value more. Consider to have it revised by colleges, there is much competition. It is not enough to write a good proposal. It has to be better than the others.
