I just wondering is it possible and if yes, how to find the gel-point of an epoxy resin, using Dynamic Mechanical Analyzing (DMA). I have used other methods, and want to compare the results.
I have some experiences using DMA for solid samples, composites, plastics, and so on for viscoelastic properties. But no idea how to measure the gel-point out of DMA results.
I have gone through literature and found some relative data-about analysis, but yet I have no clue about how to perform the test, in the first place!
Your thoughts would be really appreciated!

In the past I used glass fiber mat to impregnate it with binder and run it on DMA. Just be careful for too much resin for it will flow out and drip on your instrument! You'll need to experiment to get this right.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That could be incisive. However, my resin is supposed to be thermally cured.

I did my work on the DMA using a shear sandwich clamp configuration. (1Hz , 2-10 µm amplitude, isothermal mode) The trick is to impregnate the glass mat with little sample to minimize flowout. Its a bit messy but you cut small squares/circles of the impregnated mat to fit the clamp configuration of your DMA.
