I presume a scientific mind is always in the move, in the move of imagination, pondering and thinking about things he/she does research and in fact about things around and afar. The time of socialization is an ideal time to relax and get a break from the voyage of thoughtfulness of the mind.
The work of researcher is a creative work. in general, once can not satisfied a creative work unless he is at comfortable state. For this, The search and comfort are two things interrelated to achieve results
The passion that researchers have to add values to the existing knowledge in their diverse fields never dies in them. The more the output of their investigative works, the better they would want to do.
As long as they live, they can never be tired of investigating and communicating their findings through publications. Even at death, their work rest not as seekers of knowledge go after their works.
I think that sometimes (one time per week) bicycle workouts can help to refresh one's (researcher's) mind. But my experience belongs to the possibility of going along seashore, then the effect is especially amazing. Unfortunately, great academic science is concentrated at places out of good resorts. This is a result of a certain geographic determinism when warm southern territories do not coincide with technical and scientific progress (it is the known "South" and "North" life style difference problem).
It's very nice to meet you here - refreshed and so cheerful :)
I think the researches need also sometime to rest from the researchers working on them. Just remember Newton's apple, or the bathtub of Archimedes. These giants made their greatest discoveries while having a rest, in pleasant atmosphere, and fresh air.
O.K., I am not a giant, and the research work is my job. But still, I do appreciate my rest, meeting a nice cheerful person, having a glass of cold lemonade (or frappe) on the sea shore, the amazing waves and sunrises of the Black sea, nice music, my hobbies - so many small but amazing things to save and inspire me. I see everybody has a larger or a smaller set of such things. Never forget them!
Dear Shafagat, thank you for this question! It is time to go swimming ;)
People who had more leisure activities and rest "reported more life satisfaction, finding more meaning in life," says Health Specialist. "They tended to be more religious [and] spiritual in orientation. They reported having a lot of support from friends and having a large network of friends and family."
"People felt healthier during vacation. They had a better mood," Doctors say. "They were less tense. And they had a higher level of energy, and they were more satisfied with their life."

Dear collegues. I went on vacation for two weeks. Beautiful place where the sea and the forest . When I was there, I did not use computers and the Internet. Dont use TV. My brain is fully cleaned and returned back to the good mood.
I agree on several points of view, because I believe that a person engaged in the research, may have a physical rest, but always be on analyzing and reasoning in a scientific interest. The brain never takes a vacation, if you're really committed to science.
In my opinion, it is difficult, for scholars engaged in scientific research & teaching, to get a good degree of rest unless the weekly holiday is extended from 2 days/week to 3 days/week. Since this extension is not applied globally , as far as I know, the scholars are left to take some rest in the Summer holiday. However, many scholars (in several countries) give Summer courses and ,therefore, they are busy all over the year. Our career is a really exhausting one!
I think scientific minds always work.. Taking leisure times, spending enough time with family, watching movies and some other arts and sport activities, going for picnics etc. are some ways for relaxation, in my experience.
Live life to the fullest. Work hard. Play hard. Enjoy.
We should enjoy what we do and do what we enjoy. If we can do that, life is less stressful and enjoyable, i.e. an international conference could also become a vacation. Cheers.
Engaging in game playing can go a long way in relaxing the brain and enjoy life on a lighter mood than just being buried all day long to research work. Game playing helps a long way in cooling off tension attached to work and bring about inspiration for new ideas which at the long run will help in no small measure to bring forth a ground breaking research output
The brain is always working, even when we’re not engaged in any sort of tasks.
When a break is needed at work, the brain network that comes same as the network we use as that looking our Facebook timeline and seeing what our friends are up to..
