I'm new in cell biology research. i have question about methodology to study cell growth.
When comparing control cells with gene knockout cells, I found that the gene knockdown cells grew slowly after being continuously cultured for 3 days without changing the cell culture medium; however, this phenomenon did not occur if the culture medium was replaced every day. What is the mechanism behind this? how should i do to give a possible explanation?

Why you are curious to know this answer. There are several thousands of genes those are knocked out. You wrote simply knockout. This is a very stupid question to ask. You need to read first that what is gene knockout. Which gene you are talking about. Your experiment is the most stupid experiment I have ever heard of. Pl do not spoil science by asking this kind of stupid questions.
Liu-qing Chen it would be helpful to understand what gene you knocked out, otherwise it is impossible to think about your problem. For example is the gene in a metabolic pathway so that some component needs to be supplied by the growth media.
