The recycled aggregate of construction and demolition waste can be incorporated in mortars without major impairment of their mechanical properties. However, these aggregates contribute excessively to the appearance of cracks in the mortars due mainly to the high absorption of water and the greater quantity of fines. What could be done to minimize this problem?

All mortards crack when dried before curing. An efficient way is to keep the mortar wet during curing, at least a couple of days.
I think the best solution is clean and removing the fines or increase the time mixing, because I belive that the big problem bécame for the fines that envolved the aggregates and produce the wrong mix
Claude-Alain Roulet The curing is efficient. However, there are still cracks. The higher water absorption of RA as well as the hot climate of Brazil contribute to the excessive cracking.
Fines tend to go to the upper layers and since they need extra saturation water, the heat of setting evaporates water needed for this process. i would be extra careful in laying very soon after placing a thick and lasting curing film.
