In transformer, there are iron and copper losses. i read a paper about reduction of losses. it is said that if we divide the area of core into two rectangles by laminating the core, we can reduce losses. I want to know is it possible and now does this way use?
I am looking for reducing transformer losses. please, send me some paper about it.

As you said, there are two main types of energy losses within power transformers; the copper, and the core losses. There are many design issues that may be considered for reducing these kinds of losses. For example, increasing the cross sectional area of the conductors forming the coils results in reduction in the copper losses, but the weight, and cost of the transformer will increase. The core losses can be reduced, as you said, by eliminations. Generally, the core losses can be reduced by all means that increase the impedance against the eddy currents flow in the core material. Since power transformers are very old industry, minor design changes can be done for reducing the losses.
Practically, the external causes of the losses can be reduced. One of these causes is the power factor of the supplied load. Since the windings' current flow depend on the apparent power supplied to the load rather than the active power loading. Therefore, increasing the power factor significantly reduces the copper losses. Direct injection of reactive power at the load terminals by reactive power compensators regulates the power factor. The reduction of harmonic current flow by using harmonic filter also can reduce the losses.
