well for me  I think to work hard is the best way to achieve our goal

starting with reading most of researches related to our work followed by concluded our  readings and start from the end where others stopped.

collaboration is very important and necessary and in such days its more easy than before to find a partner from outside so you can do your research outside your country or part of it to gain the needed experiences.

All the achievements in the human civilization are results of scientific research, when the goal of the research is solving problems, improving techniques, creating new methods of therapies the research will be useful for the humanity ( local or global ) but in the case of random and inaccuracy  research, just for requirements of job or C.V. may be aimless and unuseful.

Unfortunately, There are smart and good researchers in Iraq, but the environment of research is bad besides there is no investment in scientific research, and the economic structure in Iraq not efficient ( there are no companies so there is no competition ). So, there is more research but without reflecting in the development of the community.

The gap identification is an important step to start research. Once the gap is identified the goal is set. Measuring target versus actual and narrowing the gap between two will lead us to success.

You ask the following: How to reach our goals as researchers?  As I see it, our main goal as researchers is to look for the unknown. How to proceed for this to be the case? I would suggest you to start with a critical review of the most relevant literature related to your project. I say critical because of two reasons. First, if you not perform a critical review of the previous literature, your review may be an end in itself, not a means to see its strengths, shortcomings, gaps, and the like. Second, if you not perform a critical review of the previous literature you risk not having time enough to read all this literature and, hence, time to relax and think of your possible research project or projects. As mentioned, when we perform a critical review of the  literature, we often found that is has some strengths, but also, for example, some conceptual and methodological flaws, shortcomings and limitations. To detect these conceptual and methodological shortcomings may be an opportunity to raise, say," irritating" questions and doubts, that is, questions whose response leads us to advance knowledge or a better knowledge of the unknown. From my experience of researcher and contact with other researchers, I think that we are lucky and generally ingenious researchers when we are able to raise "irritating" questions, doubts, or conjectures, as Karl Popper used to say. If you were able to raise an "irritating" question, doubt, conjecture or hypothesis, then you can discuss it with  other (good) researchers from either within or outside of your institution. When this is the case, inbreeding is less likely to appear.

To sum up and as I see it, to reach our goals as researchers, generally involves a three-steps-process: (1) to perform a critical review of the most relevant or known  literature related to the domain of knowledge you are interested in. (2) To raise, say, an "irritating" question, doubt, or hypothesis in that domain of knowledge. Note that one's ability to wonder goes hand in hand what might be called "the irritation of doubt". Paraphrasing Wittgenstein, where there is place for doubt, certainty does not make any sense either (see his book On Certainty).
