Can someone share how to quantify GC-EAD responses of an insect antenna. I've recorded the responses against few compounds. Some responses are stronger and some are weaker. Is there any way, to support this (stronger / weaker responses) by measuring responses somehow and using some stats?

Is this a question about equipment, or what to do with the recordings from the equipment, or about what to do with the data from those recordings?
Timothy A Ebert Sorry I didn't elaborate my question. Its about processing the GC-EAD trace after doing the recordings. Like some people have used mV to measure responses (e.g. strong responses are 10mV, weak responses are 2mV etc.) My question was "is there any way to get these mV data for each response on EAD trace or I have to do it visually?
I work with EPG (Electropenetrography or electrical penetration graph). At least with EPG, the entire process is manual. There have been some attempts to automate, but all have failed for various reasons. In any case, there will not be a fixed voltage above which is a response because that value will change depending on how the equipment is set up and the noise level in your laboratory. However, for any set-up there will be some voltage above which there is a response. If the data is only response-non-response then it should be possible to write a simple program to read the raw data file and identify responses. You can use R, SAS or any programming language (Basic, C, Pascal, Fortran, Python, etc...). I don't know of any existing software that would do this. If you have only a few dozen EAD traces, visually may be the fastest solution. If you have (or expect) thousands of traces, then it might pay to invest time to writing a program.
Hi All, I have a very big problem with crosstalk using gc-ead, meaning when I inject a mixture of 7 compounds I have responses from the antennae to all compounds. Even for that which are not relevant. For example, the EAD baseline gors up for the solvent peak, too. Any idea why?
It seems to me there is an interaction between the compounds. If so, even irrelevant compounds may become relevant due to these interactions. Assuming that these interactions are real, an important question to ask is whether it is pre-receptor, post-receptor, or even at the receptor (membrane protein).
