During preparation of gold nanoparticle colloids we need to weigh the gold chloride. During weighing of gold chloride it remains exposed to air for sometimes and during that procedure gold chloride becomes moist and thus causes loss of money. How can How this gold chloride can become solid again ?
As for many other hygroscopic salts or highly oxidisable metals, there is no choice but storing and handling them always in a glove box having a very well controlled atmosphere (at the ppm level). If you don't have such big and expensive device, at least these chemicals must be stored in dessicators and theit flask should be open only in globe bag (much cheaper) previously filed with very well dried nitrogen..

You can use dessicators. But the best way is that if possible at a time you prepare the stock solutions of HAuCl4. Later depending upon your work you can use the concentrations. Because anyways you are preparing colloidal AuNPs.
To avoid losses in the process of weighing, the best option is to dissolve the whole content in high concentration, store it as the stock solution in a brown bottle. Then subsequently dilute to whatever concentration you need.
I can confirm that the stock solution route suggested twice here is what many laboratories use successfully. Open the original bottle and use it all immediately to make a stock solution that you keep in he dark and not forever!
