I would like to know how you prepare viscous cosmetic products such as serums, creams etc. for in vitro assays such as cell viability, ELISA etc.? I want to know how you adjust the concentration of the final product which is a blend of multiple ingredients (chemicals). What solvent do you use to make them more liquid and applicable in the assays? Ethanol, methanol or DMSO?
How do you decide the dose for cells, because the final product is formulated for human skin application? (Dosing from in vivo to in vitro issue)

Dilution will break the emulsion, changing solubilities and exposure to ingredients relative to actual product use. Think I'd avoid DMSO or other solvents - this would be totally irrelevant to product use..
Are you using a model skin/cell culture?
Industry uses dilution with lecithin and polysorbate 80 to disperse product and neutralize preservatives for micro testing.
That is your question to answer. \
If you're trying to understand the effect of the "product", you have to use the product - not a dilution. Dilution breaks emulsions - changing the exposure dynamic in use.
Micro is irrelevant - you're trying to understand the presence of microbes, not the product.
