I have Fe and Fe3O4 nanoparticles suspension and want to do TEM to ensure their nano size. Please share some data and suggestions for doing this work.
It's easy to make TEM sample for nanoparticles. If the concentration of your suspension is high, first dilute it, then apply 1~2 drops on Cu grid, dry it, done. If your suspension is not that stable, apply some sonication before using it.
Make a sufficiently dilute suspesnion and before preparing the samples for analysis by
TEM, the suspensions should be well dispersed by
sonication for at least 30 min. You can either immerse the TEM grid in the suspension for 1 min or place a tiny drop of the suspension on grid, leave for 3 to 5 min and then remove the excess of the drop so as to leave a very thin liquid layer on the grid, leave to dry in air and place in dessicator.
