According to the ANSYS APDL manual, friction can be applied only to the revolute, slot, and translational MPC184 joint. I need to model, however, a spherical (ball) joint including friction.

Any ideas how to implement friction into a spherical joint?
I have just got an answer from the ANSYS support that this feature is on the implementation/customer wish list. They recommend to create a detailed model of the ball joint.

Ansys wb Multibody Dynamics is agood option. APDL may have some limitation. You can create frictional and frictionless joints in MBD module of Ansys.You can even set the value of frictional coefficient.
As far as I know, ANSYS Workbench Rigid Dynamics uses the same element types as used by APDL, i.e., the MPC184 for spherical joints. WB actually runs APDL scripts in the background. Please correct me if I am wrong.
