I am trying to model a part containing four components which is produced by plastic molding, in Abaqus. The part component list is as follow:
1- Copper Segments
2- Bandage Rings
3- Spring
4- Plastic
The pictures of the part were attached. The bandage ring, spring and segment were inserted into a plastic mold, and the plastic part injected to form the final product. Now I want to model a test in Abaqus according to the following conditions:
- Ambient temperature: 100˚C
- Rotation Speed: 25000 rpm
Actually the part should be tested in an oven based on above conditions. My concern is how can I model the contact between parts (i.e. Plastic part and segments, plastic part and bandage ring, spring and plastic). Shall I consider the part as one single part? or the part should be modeled with contacts. Which contact theories in Abaqus would be the best choice (the closest model to reality)?

With an assembly including moulded parts it is often difficult to know how well the parts are actually stuck together. Unless you have absolute confidence in your technology/process and know how it will work, the best approach probably is to do two analyses:
-one assuming that the plastic actually "sticks" to the parts perfectly. In this case you can either have multiple parts and use tie constraints, or model everything as one mesh with different material properties
-one where you assume that nothing "sticks" and model pure contact between the parts
Reality is somewhere between the two approaches. Usually the "non-stick" approach will give you higher stresses and the analysis can also fail if some parts come loose during spinning. Based on the two results, you can gain insight into how important it is that thing "stick", if it is, then you need to think how you can ensure that they will.
PS: I would do the contact version first, as the contact can be changed to effectively a tie if you prevent separation and use the "rough" friction model.
