I'm interested in simulating water discharge pipe inside a lake. But I have some problem, the lake water has a certain density gradient profile. How to model the density gradient profile? Because I think that the density gradient couldn't modeled with polynomial function approximation.
The density gradient profile cannot be ignored because I want to evaluate the effects of water discharge to the density gradient profile.

Hi Gianluca, thanks for your offer. But I'm afraid it will give you some problem because the data is too many and currently in uncopyable form. Can I just approximate the density gradient profile with several domains with linear functions?
Or are there some other techniques to solve this problem?

Yes, correct; for each domain you should have continuity of density for avoiding numerical dispersion. Gianluca
