According to previous research, the formation of secondary phases during the electrodeposition of ternary and quaternary compounds thin layers is almost unavoidable. But I wonder if there is any way to reduce them and make them negligible during the electroplating operation.

I would imagine with this composition that oxide phases may arise. By purging your setup and blanketing with inert gas (e.g. argon, N2), then transitioning to apply a barrier layer after the eDep (such as a polymer or some intermediary) you may minimize oxygen-rated decomposition. besides, to overcome the secondary phase you need first fined it’s type, if it is one of the oxides then the solution given by Guild may help, if that’s not the case, the solution will depend on the type of the second phase and the method of preparation
