Hello everyone,
Currently, I use Ni foam as working electrode. To connect with potentiostat, I connect the Ni foam with copper wire and soldering in the joint. To prevent any contact between copper wire and electrolyte, I use PTFE tube to cover the copper wire and put epoxy to seal the connection. Here I attach the example.
Do you have any suggestions to make this kind of connection?

Is it possible to simply use a longer nickel foam electrode so the connection between the copper wire and the nickel foam electrode is well above the liquid level in the electrolytic cell? Is the wicking action of the nickel foam electrode significant, i.e., do you have any idea how high the electrolyte will be drawn up the nickel foam electrode through capillary action?

Yes it is possible to make Ni foam longer, but it will be a bit hard to maintain 1cm2 active area of Ni foam. I want to measure the Ni foam with 1x1 cm2 dimension only.
Moreover, I do not know how high the electrolyte will be drawn up through capillary action, that's why for now I block with epoxy to maintain 1 cm2 active area.
