I have difficulty in mass rearing whitefly with fluctuating temperature and humidity, I'm considering rearing using an artificial diet, but I haven't found the right method.
I think no need for artificial rearing of whitefly because the pest can feed on more than 700 plant species. then it is so easy for every one to find host plants throughout the whole year-time to rear the pest.
Firas Al-Zyoud Thank you for your respond. I agree. But we found that there were fluctuations in the whitefly population even though they were reared in greenhouses on their favorite host plants. Since we always need large whitefly populations and the specific results of interactions between whitefly - the virus they contain - and their host plants, I think it would be more efficient to use an artificial diet so we can reduce the effects of fluctuations in greenhouse temperature and humidity and the bias comes from the interaction of whitefly with the first host plant used for rearing pure population before the actual treatment.
