I'm modelling an RVE with an edge crack in ABAQUS to study crack propagation using the XFEM method. For some reason the crack is not opening, no matter what load or crack size I use. Could someone give me some ideas about why this could be happening?

How to connect the zero thickness cohesive element in between inclusion and matrix because when cohesive elements thickness is zero we cannot use tie constraint option to connect top and bottom surface of the cohesive element. Even if you connect same surface on both inclusion and matrix ABAQUS will throw an error message stating that same cohesive node can not be exploited more than once if one use tie constraint. In order to avoid this we use sharing node option but the problem which encountering here is that seed size between matrix and interface not constant as well as I could not possible to see stack direction of the cohesive element after modifying thickness of that element. Guys please let me know some idea to use the sharing node option between inclusion and interface as well as matrix and interface.
