In ANSYS, crack propagation can be visualized by capturing plot at various time steps. Concrete 65 element, for example, has this option. I am not sure what FEM software you bare handling. For ANSYS, here is an example

I'm sorry I forgot to mention the software. I'm using ABAQUS. I have allowed crack growth but I'm unable to see the visualisation of the propagating crack.

By using Solid element, you can model the crack and you able to see the crack propagation. If you want, I can sent you a model.

To visualize crack growth you need to go to field output and request for the parameters,

1. PHILSM

2. STATEXFEM

then you will be able to see the growth, PHILSM is the enrichment fucntion paramer and STATEXFEM shows which element has reached the failure criteria and broken with 1 = fail.

I am also not able to see the crack propagation in aluminium cracked sheet. I have turned on allowable crack growth and PHILSM, STATUS XFEM. Any Sugestion?
