In one experiment, I prepared collagen solution as follows. May be it may help you or not:

A stock solution of COL (2mg/ml) was prepared in 0.1 M acetic acid. The mixture was swirled gently, and placed at 4 ̊C for 4h to dissolve and than stored at 4 ̊C till use.

A working solution of COL (0.5mg/ml) was prepared with dH2O at room temperature (RT).
