I am using the software Abaqus for micro deep drawing , I sent my paper to the journal for publication, but I received the comment from reviewer is " FEM simulation is not suitable for micro deep drawing because the size effect is not considered in commercial software."
I want to know the method to include the size effect in software. Anybody give the suggestion for this.

Hi Mr. Subramanian, I dont get the question. Are you saying that the Abaqus does not take changes in material properties with respect to size effect? If you know what are the changes in material properties with respect to size, you can make different size models and can implement different material properties in each model. It should show the size effect in simulation. If I have not understand your question, please explain more so that others could help.

If indead FEM does not capture this effect (whatever it is) then you cannot use Abaqus to investigate this effect, since it is a FEM based software. However, if you can modify the governing equations so that the effect is somehow included to a certain degree, you could look into something like COMSOL Multiphysics and write your own PDEs. Since you are writting a paper on the subject, you should know which path to take, otherwise have a dialog with the reviewers.

FEM assumes that the material is homogeneous (at least in one element). Micro forming is at ~grain size level so strictly speaking it is not homogeneous. Even if you input the material characteristics including the size effect, still FEM is not valid unless you take the grain size, orientation etc into account.

the point is in Abaqus you can model any thing with any size but the constitutive equation for all of them is the same. therefore, for example, you can simulate your model as it is of nano-scale size but because the constitutive equations used in Abaqus is not for nano-scale and does not have lots of required and contributing terms, your simulation is not even close to correct. In such case you need to use subroutines like UMAT.
What is probably meant is that - if your deformation is on the scale of grains - you should use crystal plasticity models. There is a vast amount of literature on this and some UMAts for that are available from researchers.
