Hi everyone! I am trying to find the DNA sequence upstream of the endogenous COPB1 gene. (ENSG00000129083) However, I am having a hard time finding it, even in the genome viewer. How do I find the sequence?
If you search for this accession in Ensemble it tells you that the gene is chr11 14,443,440 to 14,500.027 in the GRCh38 map. Select export data on the LHS menu as FASTA and insert the upstream and downstream numbers of bases that you want (less than 100000) and export the sequence.
In the UCSC genome browser (https://genome.ucsc.edu/) once you click on a gene to get details and select genomic sequence it lets you select how many upstream bases you want it to add.
To add to what Yoav said, you can search for a gene by name and then zoom out. Then you can highlight the area you want the sequence for, and then click View>DNA and that will get the sequence for you.
