Would P and S be added to Cr or Ni equivalent? When present at a low alloy (room temperature) ferritic steel, would they aid or hinder martensite formation? The steel composition is (all wt%)

Mn=0.5
Si=0.0
P=0.04
S=0.1
Ti=0.0
Mo=0.0
W=0.1
Cr=0.5
Ni=0.5
Nowhere of schaeffler or delong diagram contains P or S effect, as i have seen. Please add proper to find

For reference, I would like to give you hints.
1. S and P do not improve hardenability. However, should be carefully applied as it degrades the toughness of the steel. 0.1% S steel is considered a free cutting steel.
2. P is easy to segregate as a iron-phosphorous compound at the ferrite grain boundary, greatly decreases toughness, and causes hydrogen embrittlement. Less is better unless for a specific reason.
3. In the weld zone, steel with S is advantageous in improving the toughness of the weld zone. It is just case of the weld metal. Sulfides such as MnS promote the precipitation of granular ferrite and inhibit the precipitation of acicular ferrite.

I support what KangHyung Kim said. I can add that S i P in this group of steels is only as a residual impurity. In general, in the extraction of steel, the quantities of the chemical elements S and P are maintained in very small quantities, which tend to be more than 0%.
