I synthesised the mesoporous silica nanoparticles. Then I attached graphene nanoparticles with mesoporous silica nanoparticles. TEM images clearly show the attachment of graphene over mesoporous silica nanoparticles. I want to quantify how much amount of graphene attached over mesoporous silica nanoparticles. Need suggestions.
Simply use thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) up to 800 oC with heating ramp of 10 oC/min under oxygen or air atmosphere. At about 600 oC the GO is thermally degraded and the remaining gives the silica parentage of composite.
I think you can check by EDS (EDAX) or XPS for chemical composition analysis.

Dear Prabhuraj, from my point of view, you can use the following characterization technique to detect graphene over silica.
Qualitative Analysis:
1. Raman Spectroscopy ( you can get graphene peak)
2.FTIR
Quantitative Analysis
1. XPS
2. EDAS Mapping, Line scanning
3. BET surface area analysis (There will be change in porosity, surface area)
4. CHNS Proximate analysis (There will be increase in carbon content)

Using TGA of the nanocomposite in air is a good idea but do not forget to compare the result with TGA one of silica which also can change weight at high temperature. It depends.
Thanks to all for your valuable answers. I read some papers. People mainly find the amount of graphene in mesoporous silica-graphene composite with the help of TGA. I have some doubts in TGA. I didn't consider the weight loss from 30-100 degree celsius because of presence of moisture content in the sample. for example,
samples weight loss % (from 101-800 degree celsius)
Mesoporous silica 1%
amine functionalized silica 9%
Graphene attached with amine
functionalized silica 14%
1) Amount of graphene in silica-graphene composite = 14 - 9
= 5%
2) Amount of graphene in silica-graphene composite = 14 -1
= 13%
Whether I need to consider the amine groups in calculating the amount of graphene in silica-graphene composite?
From my point of view, one has to consider amine groups in calulating the amount of graphene in silica-graphene composite. So answer will be 5% of graphene present in silica-graphene composite.

It depends on conditions of formation of graphene layer (nanoparticles, coating). Thus, if you used for this procedure the amine functionalized silica then 5% look possible. However, it is correct only on the condition that in the course of the graphene formation amine modifier was kept on the same level (was not lost) as in the parent amine functionalized silica

You can use XPS, XRD, FT-IR and Raman to make sure that your sample has graphene then by using TG analysis you can calculate the graphene that your sample has if we suppose that your sample has only SiO2 and graphene. By the way, if you do not want to spend much money you can simply detect graphene by using only FT-IR and Raman, then you can use TG analysis to calculate how much your sample has graphene.

XPS and FTIR spectroscopy techniques are useful to find the silica-carbon bond.
The amount of graphene (Quantitatively) determined by TGA/XPS techniques.
