Hi Tapan! the only way I know many species produce regular pellets with smooth surface is under orbital shaking. I've seen this in many unrelated species. I'm not sure about the hardness. They will be more consistent, for sure, than under static conditions, but I guess it depends on the fungal group. Best of luck!

Hi Tapan, in submerged culture of mushrooms, it responses differently based on the given parameters and they are susceptible to pH, agitation and carbon source (mostly I used glucose). You can design your output in the shake flask / orbital fermentation as according to your target;

Small-compact pellets = high biomass

Starburst pellets = high exopolysaccharide

Large-hollow pellets = high intracellular polysaccharide (this one usually will produce large pellets with a smooth surface or shaved surface)
