Hello dear RG community.
I ran a transient case in OpenFOAM. I got a lot of subfolders for each time step. Then I type paraFoam and it loads all the time steps. It takes about 20 minutes to load them all.
For that reason, I want to try loading only one time step. And I don't know how to do that.
I'm wondering if any body can help me to load only one time step please.

You can use "foamToVTK -time" to extract your desired time. However, I suggest you using paraview in parallel.
Hello, Ehsan Mahravan . Thank you very much. I wasn't sure how to use the command you suggested. So, I tried the following. In my case directory, I typed foamToVTK -time $100 to load my 100th time step. A VTK folder was created in my case directory. Then I typed paraview & to open a Paraview window. Then using the Paraview GUI, I loaded my dummy .foam file. And then I noticed that all my times steps were loaded, not just one. And to tell you the truth they were loaded extremely fast.
Am I doing something wrong? Why did it load all the time steps instead of just one?
And thank you for the parallel running suggestion. I was absolutely sure Paraview always makes use of several cores and it absolutely makes no sense to me why wouldn't Paraview do it automatically. Also, I've posted the same question on CFD online. And a user there suggested another work around. Just create a copy of your case folder, keep only the desired time step and run paraFoam command from the copied case folder. That easy. You should have opened vtk file with paraview.Parview reads vtk, so there is no need for .foam.
Fo parallel paraview, you can either compile the source and use pvserver or simply enable Auto MPI. I use the former, for the first time it takes a while to install but it is worthwhile. For the latter (I am not sure how efficient it is):
Edit-->settings-->toggle Enable Auto MPI

For those interested in detailed instructions regarding data extraction from one time step only: I created a sub folder called VTK with the command foamToVTK -time $100 . Then I went to that folder and found a .vtk file there. Then I opened a paraview window with the command paraview & . And then - from the paraview window - I opened that .vtk file. It did open, but it gave me the results for the 0th time step, not for the 100th time step as I intended. I'll keep playing with that and report if I fix the error.
