How to estimate the amount of HbF in g/dL using the VARIANT II? How to convert the level of HbF from percentage to g/dL?
We use to estimate the amount of the HbF in the form of % (percentage) in VARIANT II. I am interested to estimate the HbF in the unit of g/dL using the VARIANT II. I would be very grateful if any one respected scientist send the way / procedure to calculate the HbF in g/dL using the VARIANT II results. If estimation of HbF in the unit of g/dL is using different protocol, kindly help us by sending the protocol.

Is it appropriate?
Yes, absolutely appropriate. However, what is the question you want to answer? If you want to analyze HbF expression in details, do remember that HbF cellular distribution is heterogeneous and that you then may want to know the relative percentages of F-cells/non F-cells.
Thank you very much Dr Jacques. I would like to identify the sequence variants associated with the level of HbF in beta thalassemia major and intermedia. Hope the above said formula will be sufficient for this.
