Hi everyone,

I am trying to do a mediation analysis. And I have encountered one main issue: I have parallel multiple binary mediators. And they might correlate to each other.

I have searched for several ways to do the analysis, and yet no one has solved my problem:

a. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in STATA. It is a commonly mentioned method in the literature. SEM can handle multiple mediators, however, limited to continuous mediators.

b. -paramed- by Emsley, R., & Liu, H. (2013). It is a STATA module performing causal mediation analysis using parametric regression models. -paramed- allows the mediator to be binary, however, it does not allow multiple binary mediators.

c. PROCESS by Hayes, A. F. (2018). PROCESS is a macro for SPSS and SAS that conducts observed-variable mediation, moderation, and conditional process analysis. PROCESS allows for multiple continuous mediators, but not for binary mediators.

I am wondering if you can give me any suggestions on:

1. Whether there are existing programs that can handle multiple binary mediators? (I do not find any yet.)

2. Could you please recommend papers that might be helpful on this issue?

Please let me know if there is anything unclear. Thank you in advance for your time and kind help. Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Best wishes,

Jingya
