If i am studying the pharmacological actions of 2 drugs and they showed 3 different therapeutic actions e.g Anti inflammatory , Antioxidant, and anti apoptotic actions
How to determine statistically which action is the lead action and more dominant over the other 2 other actions in each drug?
You can determine the lead action of each drug on basis of their dose dependent activity. Therapeutic Index (TI) was frequently determined in animals as lethal dose (ED) of a drug for 50% of the population (LD50) divided by the minimum effective dose (ED) for 50% of the population (ED50).
TI=LD50/ED50
So, after having all actions ( anti-inflammatory , anti-oxidant, and anti-apoptotic) TI data you can compare them. The bigger TI data indicates the lead action of the drugs. Good luck!
I would imagine that each of these actions should be subjected to a comparative study in each of these categories against a leading prototype of the respective actions. The action that stands out should be the dominant action of the compound concerned.
