I'm working on ABAQUS to study the response of geo-synthetic reinforced soil to dynamic excitation. Geocell provides additional confinement to soil reducing the settlements and lateral movements Here is the work flow :
1) created a soil (deform-able solid) and a geocell (shell homogeneous).
2) assigned material properties and section
3) embedded the geocell at required place in the model
Here there should be interaction between soil and geocell (shell element).
I don't know how to give that interaction. Anyone who can help me would be a great help

Brother when you have already embedded it. What other interaction you want to provide? Embedded means it's interactive !!
If you define the interaction type "embedded region" in Interaction module, you don't need to do anything else.

The geocells look like open honeycomb structure in the picture... do you mean that the edges of the elements of the honeycomb point towards the soil solid elements' surface?

How have you embedded them??
You can embed any element "into" the solid....but I can see them discretely in the screenshots shared by you??

As of my work, I embedded geocell into soil.
I removed the host region so as to show the geocell.

But in the paper which im validating gave interferance cohesion, shear for the geocell. If the geocell was enbedded into soil, how can i assign those values?

Here in your work, effect of interaction is required to be mentioned exclusively.
As interactions are concerned, I used a tangential contact with penalty of coefficient 0.5 and hard normal contact.
I don't know how to assign effect of interaction exclusively sir.

Actually, there is no way to simulate the interface friction of geocell and soils, like FLAC 3D which can define the coupling-stiffness, coupling-cohesion, and coupling-friction.
I have used the Abaqus to simulate the geocell. The geocell only simulated by the shell element. And in fact, only the 'embed' can be used to simulate the interaction between soils and geocells. Furthermore, you can not define the interface friction of them.
once you can try with self contact for giving the interaction properties in Abaqus, there you can give the tangential contact with penalty of coefficient 0.5 and hard normal contact.
