I have an 3D orphan mesh (Abaqus) that I obtained from the Gmsh software. I would like to insert a perfect spherical hole in that mesh.
I selected all the elements inside a sphere and deleted them but i am getting a very coarse surface, look at the figure attached
Is there a way to create a perfect spherical hole in a 3D Abaqus mesh ( I do not have the part geometry) ?
I thought something like, smooth the inside of the surface of the mesh deletion, but I donot know how to do that.
You cannot do this in Abaqus.
If you import your model from gmsh, why not create the hole directly there?
Actually, your geometry is simple enough that you could use Abaqus CAE directly, I think, or create a CAD file with some other software and import a STEP part.

The geometry is not simple as it looks, may the I should have shown the zoomed view. It is a polycrystal with multiple grains. I tried to create geometry from mesh but it wasn't that good.
Could you explain, how to insert a void using Gmsh, even any reference would greatly be appreciated.
I do not have a geometry as such, we have STL files which I convert it into a 3D mesh.

O.k., if you have an STL, you may probably want to use some CAD software to cut out the spherical hole. This can probably be done with meshmixer or with FreeCAD.
However, it is not always easy to mesh STLs (use meshmixer to repair the structure), in the end, it may be easier to directly change the software that ceates your grains.
