Hello,

I am working on crystal plasticity finite element simulations of poly-crystalline microstructures with linear elements (C3D4). I have total number of elements in the order of ~ 4 M. I often find that there are very high values of stresses ( & derived field quantities) at few elements, but immediate neighbors don't have such high values.

I vaguely understand that these may be due to volumetric locking (plasticity and linear element!) or due to a bad element.. But could you  point out to an exact possible reason for this kind of a behavior ?
