I have extracted mcl PHA from bacteria. But I am facing problem in dissolving the extracted PHA. It is not dissolving in chloroform and other solvents like acetone, dichloroethane, diethylether etc. I have also tried boiling it in chloroform.
Also, Please tell me how to check the purity of extracted PHA?
In what form is your PHA? Powder, pulp, or large agglomerates?
If the polymer is compacted during isolation, then there is the possibility of the formation of a rigid crystal structure, which prevents the penetration of the solvent. Try to grind the polymer before dissolving to allow better solvent access.
The solubility of PHA in chloroform also follows. No more than 10%.
