However, I would comment that two phase flows are inherently unstable apart from bubbly flow, annular flow, slug flow and annular dispersed flow. This means that the scale of the flow (usually L/D ratios) are essential considerations as is the direction of flow. Generalised conclusions can be very misleading. Personally, I still use Lockhart Martinelli as my main method, but appreciate the limitations of the accuracy! When the fluid heats up or boils the calculations become even less accurate.
