There are many scientists working on this species and they have also methodology how to breed Bemisia tabaci. I know Prof. Rifat Ulusoy and Prof. Ismail Karaca were working on it, also Dr Alberto Urbaneja published paper about Bemisia tabaci from Spain. I know that in my University there are also people were working on this but they are not active right now.
Identifying the 'biotype'/haplotype/'species' which you are dealing with would be a useful first step to optimal culturing - the invasive B/MEAM1 or Q/MED groups are polyphagous whereas others have more limited host ranges. Molecular discrimination may be required e.g.
But I assume you will either collect insects from a host in the field or receive some from another lab, in which case you will have identified an initial plant for culturing (though this may still be a sub-optimal host). Be aware that mixing 'Bemisia tabaci' samples from different hosts may mean mixing 'biotypes' in your culture which can have different biological characteristics (more than one 'biotype' may even be present on the same host!).
If all goes well and the whiteflies multiply, make sure you have a relatively continuous supply of healthy plants in case of leaf or whole plant death due to whitefly numbers and excretions.
