We all wish to learn, but most of us do not make commitment to learn with our conscious willingness, required zest, hardworking and improvement and gradual development in thinking.
It takes gradually certain period of time to become a skilled critical learner. There is no short cut. To develop critical thoughts and ideas, we need our own physiological and psychological development to continue reaching to better levels of learning and hence interpreting and understanding.

From my point of view, in order to become a "qualified critical student", it is necessary, at least, to develop critical thinking.
To develop critical thinking, it is necessary to learn to see and compare alternatives.
To identify alternatives, you need to be able to generate them either yourself or with someone (whether they are literary sources or real people). And in an ideal situation, do both.
Accordingly, it is necessary to learn how to use creative thinking techniques in practice, suitable for both individual and group work, such as mindmapping, the method of six hats by Edward de Bono, brainstorming, etc.
