I am using GO and a thermoplastic to create nanocomposite and am going for the melt route. My temperature in the second zone of extruder reaches 120 C and near die it reaches upto 190 C. GO thermally degrades to graphene at 75 C in inert atmosphere. How do I avoid this transformation?

A long residence time of the polymer/GO mixture in the extruder and a high temperature but above 150 °C have a noticeable effect on the reduction of GO. The covalent functionalization of GO by organosilanes could increase its thermal stability.

This is not degradation, this is only partial reduction. GO is not a stable material, so over time, it has to reduce into rGO. Even if you avoid the thermal reduction during spinning, the photoreduction will occur, when samples will be exposed to light. In a reduced state, graphene has conductivity and superior mechanical performance, which is beneficial for composite.
Few/single-layered graphene is less stable is readily susceptible to reduction. Multilayered GO/graphite oxide is relatively a better option if you don't want to reduce the GO during processing.
