I am wondering what some quantifiable methods to assess plant tissue culture performance could be. I have seen some publications use destructive metrics, such as shoot length or culture weight, but it is difficult to perform these measurements without interrupting the culture sterility. I have also seen some metrics like # of new shoots produced, but I feel this is largely based on the way the explant is prepared going into culture.

I was wondering what are some metrics you use to assess plant performance in different media and conditions. We are doing protocol research to figure out the best culture conditions to grow the plants, but our notes and analysis feel very subjective, and we are not relying on any quantifiable metric. I have been thinking of developing a scoring system, but wanted to see what you all thought!
