I am trying to simulate the effect of the magnetic field on the silicon melt using ANSYS Maxwell and MHD (ANSYS fluent). I have simulated the magnetic field in Maxwell and linked the "solution" to the "setup" of fluent (MHD is activated). Furthermore, I also activated the MHD module;
Here are my problems: 1- I have exported the magnetic field file from Maxwell in TXT format. And imported into ANSYS fluent.
2—When I click on "apply external field" in the MHD module in ANSYS fluent, I cannot see a field that is apparently produced by Maxwell. Once I click to apply, it just freezes and does nothing until I close the app by clicking "End Task."
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any relevant tutorial to tackle this problem. I will be truly grateful if you share your experience or help with me.

To apply a magnetic field on a silicon melt using ANSYS Maxwell and MHD:
1. Set Up Geometry & Materials: Model the silicon melt and assign its temperature-dependent properties (electrical conductivity, viscosity).
2. Configure Magnetic Field in ANSYS Maxwell:
- Create the field source (coils/magnets) and assign excitation parameters (DC/AC current).
- Define boundary conditions and solve for the magnetic field in the melt region.
3. Export Magnetic Field: Export the magnetic field results for use in the MHD simulation.
4. Set Up MHD in ANSYS Fluent/CFX:
- Enable the MHD model, define fluid properties, and import the magnetic field from ANSYS Maxwell.
- Couple the magnetic field with the fluid flow using the Lorentz force.
5. Run Simulation: Solve the coupled problem and analyze the effect of the magnetic field on the silicon melt flow and temperature distribution.
