I have synthesized ZnO nanoparticles with different morphologies but I have problem with keeping them dispersed in well diffusion antibacterial method.
the results are unreliable because of settling down at the bottom of wells and unclear zone of inhibition.
what protocols should I use?

To address ZnO nanoparticles settling in well diffusion antibacterial tests, use a compatible solvent like PBS or saline to maintain suspension, and adjust nanoparticle concentration to avoid high levels that promote settling. Adding surfactants such as Triton X-100 or stabilizers like PVP can prevent aggregation. Thoroughly vortex the suspension before use and choose flat-bottom well plates to reduce settling. Ensure the incubation temperature suits the bacterial growth needs, and regularly monitor and gently vortex the suspension if necessary. If well diffusion remains ineffective, consider alternative methods like disk diffusion or broth microdilution for more reliable results.
Pouria Taherian, Citrate coating can be one of the options to inhibit coagulation and settling down your ZnO catalyst nanoparticles. Citrate coating is easiest way to keep your nanoparticles well dispersed.

is there any method for citrate modification of pre-fabricated ZnO NPs?? as the fabrication is green based.
