I have taken both dosages and there is no side effect so far. Blood clotting is a very big issue that some European countries have reported. I think more research is needed on this. But a similar effect is not there in India.

I would argue that 7 deaths out of 30 confirmed cases due to the blood clotting developed after the vaccine is not negligible. For my wife they started appearing 7-8 days after the vaccine and she has no history of such clots developing before and her blood reports are always clean.

I will have to check whether one can choose the vaccine they want, however it is not decided by the public as far as we know here in UK. It just depends upon supply and demand of the vaccine at a center you enroll to.

Because the blood clots with AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been reported to be more common in people under 30 while people with this age group are more likely to have mild symptoms if they get COVID-19.

This has been mentioned in the article of NY Times without citing clear reference

I know people who are between 30 -50 who have shown clots as well.

Anyone that experiences symptoms listed in the link below(1), including tiny blood clots visible under the skin, within 4-20 days of receiving the 1st AstraZeneca dose should see a doctor to examine or rule out the possibility of VIPIT.

It appears at least several countries now recommend NOT getting the 2nd dose (of AstraZeneca) if blood clots were present after the 1st dose (2, 3).

Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine is an inactivated form of SARS-CoV-2 and is given in form of two injections, about 3 weeks apart.

CanSinoBIO COVID-19 vaccine, is single dose using a human adenovirus, Ad5, to deliver SARS-CoV-2 proteins into the body.

These vaccines are less effective compared with Pfizer and moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

It would be a safe measure to asses your wife with a baseline procoagulant work up to rule out whether she is having low levels of any physiological body anticoagulants or any of these factors having mutations which might have actually increased her risk of developing a venous clot post vaccine. If any is identified. She can avoid the second jab. Plus is she on any OCPs by any way? These can too increase the risk of clot.

Also a single jab though not super effective is quiet good enough to gives some antibody response and prevent a severe infection in near future from virus.

Wife is having 2nd shot today. The doctors have seen her report and say that its all ok. While clearly some of the blood results still indicate onsets of clotting. We also requested if other vaccine (except AZ) can be administered, but they said to complete the procedure, one needs to have both doses of the same vaccine.

Her APTT 21.9 sec - C Reactive 15mg/L indicate a faster coagulation than should be.

Hmm... Realistically speaking chances of a clot are very negligible, so great you got her the second jab. Take care wish you and all in your family good brother.

It is banned here in Canada because it caused blood clotting in 20 cases. Out of the 20 cases, 3 died. This happened after the Canadian Prime Minister and some of the provincial premiers took Astra Zeneca to prove that it is safe. My suggestion, take it only if you don't have any other option. But not getting vaccinated at all, if there is no other option is also unwise.

People are more likely to die from Covid or develop a blood clots due to Covid. Women that take anticonventional pills are more likely to develop blood clots from it than the vaccine. Everything is relative. So, maybe, they are points to consider when choosing which vaccination to take.

I still encounter people (young educated scientists) who are not willing to take any vaccine for COVID. They argue that government must take responsibility for the side effects.

The cases in UK have started to surge again. 27,989 cases yesterday again and mostly from the Indian variant.

What is concerning though is a report that says that 40% of the new deaths since start of June are of the people that have had both doses ...

I think the whole affair is bizarre. We recently learned that there was a miracle drug, ivermectin (worth its Nobel Prize) who has been proven to slow down covid19 and prevent its transmission to other people. Recent publications show that "fully vaccinated" people can become infected, have similar viral load in their nasopharyngeal cavities and therefore become infectious carriers, while having reduced symptoms themselves.

The UK government plans to lift all bans coming month and also if fully vaccinated people do come in contact with someone infected, then they wont need to self isolate..

Data from UK published 29 July 2021 shows a surge in Deaths and Cases admitted to hospital, a week after Boris Johnson's "Freedom Day".

Once again, common sense is not prevailing in UK. While we see that countries like Australia and New Zealand that started controlling the virus back in 2020, are once again in hard lackdown appreciating the importance of staying cautious and realizing the fact that the virus is still very potent and adaptive.

Most vaccine manufacturers including Astrazeneca claim protection against delta variant though it is lower that against the original virus. The good news is that hospitalisations and deaths are avoided in the recipients of both doses. Waqas Tanveer prevention is always better so congregations should be avoided and guidelines should be followed.

That reference author that you mention is not me. I am just a simple engineer who has witnessed the adverse effect the AZ vaccine had on my wife and she developed various onsets on blood clots on her leg.
